For my first review I’m going to start with my favourite book of all time, “eleanor and park” by Rainbow Rowell.
This book is really good. It as it all, friendship, love and a teenage perspective of the world. For a brief resume of it, the book is set in 1986 and talks about a girl, called Eleanor, that moves to another city and because she’s “different” from the other girls she’s basically bullied.
On the bus to school, she sits beside a boy named Park, who at first doesn’t want to talk to her, but then they end up talking and falling for each other. But the ending of the book it’s what is unexpected, they don’t end up together and happily ever after.
The book speaks to my on a personal level, because I honestly don’t believe in happy endings, and this is the first book that I’ve read that doesn’t have that, It’s rare to find that on a romantic young adult novel.
It just makes you want to dig in deeper in the book, it makes you feel what’s happening between them. Shows that love isn’t about your looks, or what amount of money you have on your bank account. It’s much more than that, it’s the story of two teens finding out how it feels to want someone so badly and in the end losing them.
It’s a book that you will really enjoy, and not want to leave. You will continue reading until you can’t. It makes you addicted, the way that Rowell writes is very enjoyable and easy. You know exactly what she wanted to say and that is a big factor on how much you end up liking a book.
The message that you should retain is that you should retain, is that life is unknown. You don’t know what is going to happen next, so you need to live the moment, not the future. If yu just think about what’s going to happen in 1 year you don’t enjoy the present that builds your future. Because Eleanor went away, Park felt lost, he wasn’t expecting that. In a weird way he ended up taking El for granted. Don’t do that.
Love everyday, live every moment. That’s what the book teaches, and that’s why I love it so much.
See you next time.
All the Love,
